We used BD Construction for a protracted complex EQC negotiation. Darrin was instrumental in helping us achieve a great outcome. He was open to multiple repair and rebuild scenario’s for a large 113 year old home on TC3 land.  BD construction are skilled and knowledgeable. Darrin is a great communicator. He listens.  They are open to sustainable building practices, knowledgeable and experienced in energy efficient design and able to tackle complex, innovative designs. I highly recommend this business.

BD Construction undertook a renovation project for our client in 2023, and although not everything went according to plan, Darrin & his team were quick to resolve any issues that arose. Adam was an excellent site manager, very thorough and attentive and was quick to gain our trust. The finished result is very pleasing and we would happily work with them again.

"Thank God for Darrin, Nick and the team at BD! Before selecting BD Construction to repair our house, it would’ve been an understatement to describe our opinion of the NZ building industry as low.  We built our house with another builder more than a decade earlier and had been dealing with poor construction issues ever since.  Understandably we were wary as our renovation and seismic/weather-tightness repair began.What a revelation! BD’s communication was excellent as was their level of expertise and knowledge. Combined with the team’s easy going and friendly manner we very quickly developed complete trust and faith in them.  Nothing seemed too difficult (and our repair was complicated!), their attention to detail was higher than ours and they really seemed to have empathy for our situation, genuinely having our best interests at heart.  In fact, that is something we felt about everyone who came onto site - they all had our best interests at heart! "We first meet Darrin from BD Construction when we were looking for a building firm to repair our character home after the earthquakes.  We were impressed at the first meeting that he understood the nature of our home and the interior of our home, which was full of rimu joinery and wood paneling.  Together we set about planning and collecting ideas for the repair which was extensive.The house was moved off the foundations, stripped of everything and then rebuilt.  This project took 15 months to complete.  We were very involved as our vision was very important to us of how the house had to retain character and be modern yet not look out of place.The BD team are a team of Artisan's who delivered over and above our expectations.  We developed very good relationships with the team as the project continued.  No request was too much trouble.  We are fussy, but they are more so delivering an exceptional home back to us.  The contractors they use are of equal elk and the finish of the paintwork, the wallpaper and all the fittings are perfect.  The most loved feature for us is the wood work and the reuse of some of the built in joinery and paneling that carries through the old to the new.Our vision was truly bought to reality in stunning style, we couldn't be happier."

"We were introduced to BD Construction as part of IAG’s Home Repair Programme once our home was damaged by the various Canterbury earthquakes.Our project involved new foundations and effectively a rebuild of significant parts of a 1930’s Arts and Craft style 2 story house, in addition to some remodelling and extensions we had been planning since before the quakes.BD Construction took the lead in managing variations with IAG as the project progressed. They did this calmly and constructively, taking into account the many processes as well as our preferred outcomes.  Some of these substitutions and variations were complex. He was a young, reliable and capable Scotsman whose attention to detail and work ethic was impressive. BD Construction worked hard to deliver on their contractual obligations and were quick to respond after the project ended. There have been some things that required post contract follow up and they were there to assist.   The repair was finished in May 2015, nearly 4 years ago and we continue to enjoy a great relationship with Darrin and George.I would have no hesitation in recommending the integrity and character of Darrin and George of BD Construction and would use them again subject to the usual due diligence before entering any contract."

"Following a competitive tendering process Fletcher Construction engaged BD Construction as the successful contractor to undertake the carpentry package for the new McDonalds at Woolston.Apart from offering a competitive price the reason Fletcher Construction accepted BD Construction was because we felt comfortable with how they understood the project and the tight contract programme.Once accepted for the project they assigned a competent Site Manager to run the project.  The Site Manager was very much hands on and professional in the way he handle their staff, ordered material and ensured that the work was carried out to a very high standard and was completed defect free.BD Construction management took a positive interest in the project and were in regular contact with the Site Manager and also visited the site several times each week.Management were aware of the tight programme and the liquidated damages clause in the contract and took this very seriously and made every effort not to let Fletcher Construction down.  During the construction phase and when finalising variations, claims and payments we found them very professional and fare in the way the conducted their business.I could certainly recommend BD Construction to a project where one was looking for a building to be built on time and to a very high standard."
